Collegiate Requirements 

To become a member of the Theta Chi chapter, you must:

 

• Have completed at least one semester at USC

• Have an established GPA with USC that is at least a 2.5

• Have taken or enrolled in a music class at USC (Music Appreciation, Carolina Band, etc.)

• Attend at least 2 Recruitment events in a semester. A formal dinner ("Pipes of Pancakes") occurs at the end of recruitment and it is a mandatory event.

• Have a strong love for music and dedication to the fraternity!

Recruitment lasts about 1-2 weeks and takes place in both the Fall and Spring semesters. If you are extended a bid to our fraternity, you are given 1 week to accept before our Pledging Ceremony. After pledging, you become a Member-In-Training (MIT) and begin Process, a series of weekly meetings in which you learn about our fraternity and our chapter alongside your fellow MITs. By the end of Process (typically around 8 weeks in length), you and your cohort of MITs must:

 

• Pass the SAI National Exam

• Organize one (1) social event

• Organize one (1) service event

• Organize one (1) fundraising event

• Organize one (1) Musicale (in which all MITs perform)

Once Process is complete, you will attend an Initiation ceremony to become an official member of the Theta Chi chapter of SAI. As a new member, you will have the opportunity to attend at least one chapter meeting before that semester is over. Requirements to maintain active membership are discussed with current members only.
